Welcome to the National PTA Reflections program!
Reflections is a National PTA arts recognition program that helps students explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence, and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful not only in school, but in life. Students in pre-K through grade 12 create original works of art in response to a theme. The theme for the 2022-2023 program year is Show Your Voice! Students submit their completed works of art in one, or all, of the available arts categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, Visual Arts.
While the primary focus of Reflections is a celebration of creativity through positive recognition, finalists from local PTAs will move on to their council PTA (if applicable), then finalists from councils will move on to the state round. Washington State PTA finalists who receive an “Outstanding Interpretation” award will advance to the National PTA round.
With more than 350 entries submitted to LWPTSA Council, selecting the highest caliber entries to move onto the WSPTA level was quite the challenge in 2021-2022. The 66 entries that earned recognition are available to available in our online Reflections Finalist Showcase. Fifteen of these submissions also received recognition at the WSPTA level, with four of them earning Outstanding Interpretation and moving on to the National PTA competition.

Theme Search 2024-25
The search is on for a future theme for National PTA’s Reflections program! Students are invited to share their ideas by November 1, 2022, for a theme that will spark fun and creativity during the 2024–2025 Reflections arts contest. The student whose entry is chosen as the winner will receive a $100 prize from National PTA, and the winning theme will be announced at the June 2023 National PTA Convention! Students should complete and submit this online form by November 1, 2022. (Find your PTA’s 8-digit National ID number in this PDF document.) Past themes and duplicate submissions will not be considered. Each student may submit up to 3 theme ideas, but each idea needs a separate form. Questions about this contest? Reflections 2022-23 Guidelines for Smith Elementary-
The deadline for turning in artwork to the Smith PTSA Reflections Chair is Monday, October 24. We are expecting at least 2 entries per classroom and will be shortlisting 10 entries and 6 Special Artist Entries to send to Council. The Judging will happen in November, and shortlisted entries will be submitted by Chair to Council by November 16.
